We have many different types of materials available at school for the children to choose to use. They also get to choose what they do with these things, whether it is to "paint" them with water and observe the change, use them in building projects, or in imaginative play, or even do some math with them. This picture shows good patterning and one-to-one correspondence, good math skills.

Art materials are often open-ended allowing for children to experience the materials and use their own ideas to be creative. Here pipe cleaners, beads, and styrofoam pieces were available for sculpting. This girl made a tunnel, and she worked very hard on it, too.

This is an exploration in form and color, as well as texture and blending colors.
