Gingerbread Houses
What a fun day the Orcas spent together making gingerbread houses. Each child brought a pint milk carton for the structure of their house. After adding lots of royal frosting "cement," we added graham crackers. It was a challenge to figure out how to do the roofs!
The children all brought in different candies to decorate their houses. The look of awe on their faces at the sheer amount and selection of candies was adorable. We discussed with the class how many candies would be ok for us to eat. After some discussion (and many children thought they should only eat one piece) we decided on a number (I think it was 5) that we could eat, and we made our selection of eating candies carefully. This is a good example of when you let children help make important decisions, they police themselves.
Aren't these amazing?
