Life Cycles

Teacher Ellen
We have been observing the changes to our natural environment since spring has arrived, and we have been learning about plants in preparation for planting and our farm work. Yesterday we were exploring Life Cycles with the Orca Calss (4-5 year olds). We asked if anyone could tell about a life cycle, and here's what a very smart 5 year old shared:

THE LIFE CYCLE OF A FOREST FIRE
1. The fire gets born: someone drops a burning match.
2. The fire gets bigger.
3. The fire burns down trees.
4. The fire burns off leaves.
5. People come and dig a big ditch because the soil is wet in the ditch and the fire can't come across it.
6. All of the animals jump across the ditch.
7. The firemen come.
8. They spray out the fire.

I love the minds of young children. I would never have thought about this.
