The Orcas' Last Nature Day
For our last Nature Day of the year we visited Faye Bainbridge park. This beach is on a different side of the Island, and it faces Admiralty Inlet, a much larger body of water. The beach is very different here. There is lots of driftwood, for one thing, and it is difficult to find the sea life we find at the other beach. We worked on building driftwood forts.
It took some real teamwork to move the heavy wood.
Then we played inside. We had to be careful about climbing on the forts so we wouldn't shift the wood and make it fall.
Some of the children mysteriously died,
but, never fear! This boy found the magic potion to bring them back alive! It was in the bulb of a piece of bull kelp.
We worked with partners to gather things to make some land art.
Look what we made!
