Spring in the Dolphin Class
It has been a busy spring so far. We have been spending as much time outside as we can, cleaning the Wildlife Sanctuary from the winter storm debris, making nesting caches for the birds, cleaning out the bird baths. Inside we have planted some different seeds. Here we have planted sunflower seeds and started a seed journal.
We make sure our seeds have everything they need to grow: sun, water, soil, and air. We have been gone for spring break for over a week- wonder what our seeds will look like when we return?
One of our friends brought in some frog eggs he found in a bog (a new word to many of us). There were two kinds of eggs: tree frog eggs, and red-legged frog eggs. We looked at them very carefully, fascinated by the jelly, and the little spots inside.
We set up a frog habitat. We know that you need 4 things in a habitat: food, water, shelter, and a place to raise your babies. We added plastic frogs, and then some plastic bugs.
We also had lily pads for the frogs to float on.
After seeing the frog eggs, we explored chicken eggs. We learned about the different parts of an egg, and ate hard boiled eggs with snack. We also colored eggs.
The more you spoon the color over the egg, the brighter the color becomes.
We colored lots of eggs to take home.
