Learning about food... and each other

Teacher Ellen
We love food, and cooking, and eating! November we had a lot of fun doing all three of these things. Food is such an important part of living, of our culture, of being in a family. Through learning about food we also learn a lot about each other. The Orca class made a wonderful cookbook with very creative recipes.

There was a fantastic play doh bakery with spice-scented play doh.

Don't these look delicious?

Here a friendly police officer buys some treats at the bakery.

Feeding the babies is also important.

Pizza day! This little guy loved the pepperoni.

The Sea Otters baked cookies. It was hard rolling the cookie dough into balls.

Then we rolled the balls in cinnamon sugar, and baked them. They were yummy!

Everyone has their own style of making pizza. Doesn't this look tasty?

We each brought our favorite pizza topping, and then we shared with our friends.

Fresh carrots from the garden were the perfect thing to eat with our pizzas!

Working with the pizza dough was interesting. If you squeezed too hard it got all sticky and stuck to your fingers and hands. The dough was stretchy and it was hard to make a pizza shape. Hmmm... what shape is a pizza anyway?

Some friends like lots of sauce, and some don't want any.

YUM!
