Spring Creatures

Teacher Ellen
We have been learning about the creatures that live in our gardens and backyards: insects and creepy crawlies. We know an insect has three body parts, compound eyes, six legs and two antennae. Some have two pairs of wings. We made insect models out of clay.

Working with the clay was challenging. It was hard to get it to stick together. We used pipe cleaners for legs.

It was fun exploring Bug World. There were crawling, flying and hopping bugs in it.

Look! A worm!

My worm is sooo long!

He's cute!

We became butterflies. We have beautiful antennae and a curled proboscis.

We fly fast looking for nectar to eat.
We went outside with our magnifying glasses and Nature Journals to see what we could find. We had to be patient and look very closely.

We have learned that creatures like different kinds of habitats. There are more creatures in the soil, than in the sandbox or on a rock.
